Algarve Villa

SILVES: A beautiful old town with a castle and a cork museum.

ALBUFEIRA: Market stalls line the roads near to the beach, and there are sometimes entertainers in the square. There are also plenty of cafes and restaurants, though finding a parking place is sometimes difficult.

LAGOS: An interesting old town and marina. If you continue beyond Lagos, southwards to the Ponta de Piedade there are some wonderful cliff formations which can be seen from paths in the area.

SAGRES: It was from there that the early sailors set out to explore distant lands. Cape St Vincent is in this area, where there is a lighthouse and breathtaking views of steep cliffs along the west coast of Portugal.

Throughout the Algarve there are many beautiful beaches (praias):

BENAGIL: A small beach but very close to the villa. If you are a good swimmer and swim around the headland at the eastern end of the bay, you will reach a fascinating cave with two arches for entrances and a large hole in the roof which allows rays of sunshine to flow through. If you are not such a good swimmer and wish to see the cave, boat trips available which can take you there.
To the west of Benagil is PRIA DO CARVALHO which has an unusual entrance to the beach down steps cut through the cliff

VAL DE CENIANES: Very close to the villa, in the direction of Carvoeiro

CARVOEIRO: There is a small beach in the centre with cafes close by. On the steep road out from Carvoeiro there is a restaurant and parking area from which there are steps down to a lovely beach.

PRAIA DA MARINHA: (east of Benagil) Very pretty cliff formations which can be viewed from a path at the top of the cliffs and also a beautiful beach if you follow the path downwards.
